How to calculate overall wave score:
1. High Lift Score* = (High Lift Score / 5.2)
2. Average Surf Score** = (Surf Score 1 + Surf Score 2 + Surf Score 3) / 3
3. Sequence Score*** = Sequence Score for Top 4 Lifts (up to 10 points) + Style Score (up to 1 point)
4. Total Score = [(Calculated High Lift Score + Avg Wave Score + Sequence Score) / 3] x 2
* Each lift on the official ITSA Lift Chart is assigned a difficulty ranking. There are a total of 52 sanctioned lifts.
** Three surf judges are required for every contest and their scores are averaged.
*** Sequence scores are based upon where the Lift falls on the official ITSA Lift Chart. Cumulative sequence score cannot exceed 10 points.
