Additional Information on Qualifying for the Tandem Surfing World Championship
  • Teams were eligible to compete in a WTTQ event outside of their home region.
  • In the event that a team qualified in their home region plus another region, the team automatically accepted their home region's invitation to allow fair representation from all regions.
  • If a team did not qualify in their home region but qualified in another region, they were able to receive their invitation from that region instead.
  • If a team received an invitation and cannot compete for any given reason, their invitation will be extended to the next highest ranked team from that region's WTTQ event.
  • *Each invitation is earned by the team as a whole and cannot be accepted by only one partner. If there is a partner change, the original team forfeits their invitation and the newly formed team will need to qualify on their own to receive an invitation.
  • There will be one more tentative WTTQ event held at Makaha the day before the Main Event to fill any remaining invitational openings. At the discretion of the ITSA, remaining openings may also be filled by a Wild Card selection in addition to or in place of the last WTTQ event at Makaha.
